As successor of Saint Peter and Bishop of Rome his Holiness is the Head of The Romanian Catholic Church of The Byzantine Rite. The Romanian Catholic Church of The Byzantine Rite is a “sui iuris” Eastern Church.

In diaspora

Romanian Greek-Catholic missions exist in many countries inhabited by Romanian people: USA, Canada, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, Australia, etc. Romanian Greek Catholic missions diaspora is usually under the jurisdiction of the local Roman Catholic bishop (ordinarius Loci), except for the Diocese of St. George of Canton, for the U.S. and Canada.
